Blushing Bride Cocktail Ideas: 10 Variations to Choose From!

The Blushing Bride cocktail has long been a favorite to serve at bridal showers, bachelorette parties, or as a “hers” signature drink at weddings. But did you know there are quite a number of mixes and presentations you can consider? To be honest, we didn’t! What a pleasant surprise, then, to discover these 10 totally stylish variations to this demure-looking concoction that actually packs a sweet little kick. See which drink catches your fancy!

The Blushing Bride Cocktail Recipe - Recipes

The Blushing Bride has many iterations. I've seen it made with everything from grenadine to raspberry puree. But I prefer the classic because it has only three ingredients.

I find that the simplicity of the recipe makes it easier to make large batches, which makes this a good drink to serve at weddings, bridal showers, engagement parties and the like. A good-quality, complex cocktail with multiple liqueurs can be lovely too, but sometimes, you just want a libation that can be multiplied to serve 50 people without taking out a home loan to cover the cost.

4oz of Champagne/Prosecco/Pink Champagne

Pour the Schnapps and grenadine into the bottom of a champagne flute. Pour chilled champagne into the glass.

If you're feeling fancy, you can curl a piece of peach or peach skin into the flute. Some women like to sugar the rim with pink sugar, I think that's unnecessary, but to each, her own.

Signature Cocktail Drinks are A Great Addition to any Bar for a WEdding

Considerations for Choosing a Signature Cocktail

While signature cocktails are a guest favorite, there are a few things to keep in mind before choosing a love elixir for your wedding day:

  • Simplicity: keeping your signature cocktail simple is a surefire way to expedite the amount of time guests will spend waiting at your venue’s bar. The fewer the ingredients, the better - and cocktails that can be made in big batches are ideal.
  • Color: dark cocktails (think: red wine sangria) can be a bride or bridesmaid’s worst nightmare. If you are concerned about potential stains, avoid dark cocktails and stick to drinks that involve clear or light ingredients like vodka, champagne, or white rum.
  • Non-Alcoholic Options: if you plan on having underage guests or guests that do not drink alcohol, consider featuring a signature cocktail that can also be made without alcohol. This will ensure that every guest will be able to enjoy your signature concoction.

Blended Cocktails are ideal for Summer Weddings

1. Citrus Prosecco Punch

Combining a bubbly Italian Prosecco with a fresh citrus sorbet makes for a light, refreshing signature cocktail. This two-ingredient cocktail is both simple to make and pleasing to the palate - perfect for an outdoor summer wedding.

  • 1 part citrus sorbet (orange, lemon, lime)
  • 1 part champagne, prosecco, or club soda
  • Citrus slice for garnish

Why we love it: it’s light, refreshing, and simple to make for large groups.

This refreshing cocktail is also simple to make and a perfect blend of citrus and sweet. Rosé lemonade is light and bubbly - which is ideal for warm weather weddings or cooling off between sessions on the dance floor.

  • 1 bottle of rosé wine
  • 3 cups lemonade
  • 1 can club soda
  • Lemon slices for garnish

Why we love it: this light (and light-colored) cocktail isn’t overwhelmingly sweet, so it’s a great option for pleasing a crowd.

A Summer Shandy is a great choice for all taste pallets

The classic summer shandy is a simple combination of lager and lemonade - a perfect cocktail for beer lovers. If you are a beer aficionado, customize this shandy by adding your favorite craft beer.

Why we love it: the addition of lemonade makes a shandy a lighter cocktail to sip on than a traditional beer. Plus, it cuts the alcohol content in half - helping to ensure guests don’t over-indulge during cocktail hour or your reception.

White Wine Sangria is always a sweet Choice

Sangrias are a great option for a signature cocktail as they can be made in large batches to cut down on bar wait times. Switching out red wine for white is a great way to avoid any accidental red spills on your big day.

  • 1 bottle white wine

  • 2 ounces brandy (optional)
  • 2/3 cup white sugar
  • For garnish/floating: 3 oranges, 1 lemon, 1 lime (cut into wedges)

CBD Blushing Bride Recipe

Grenadine is the key ingredient that gives the Blushing Bride its distinctive red color. In fact, mixologists have often turned to this pomegranate-based simple syrup to add some color to their cocktails. A few famous grenadine-infused recipes we’ve listed on our blog include the CBD tequila sunrise and the Shirley Temple.

While it might seem daunting to make grenadine for the first time, it’s one of the simplest simple syrup renditions to make at home. In fact, you could read our full DIY grenadine recipe on this CBD Zombie post.

FYI: if you don’t care for grenadine’s flavor, there’s an easy way to keep your bride blushing without this ingredient. Instead of pouring grenadine, simply add ½ oz of cranberry juice!

Ingredients

  • Pour peach schnapps and grenadine in a pre-chilled champagne flute
  • Add champagne
  • Top with Tribe CBD oil

You could go out of your mind researching all of the Blushing Bride variations on the Internet. Interestingly, there are dozens of Blushing Bride cocktails that aren’t even “blushing” (i.e., they’re not red). Indeed, some bartenders like to get fancy and serve a rainbow-colored variety of this drink to partygoers.

For instance, some people add the Japanese liqueur Midori rather than grenadine to create a bright green drink. If you want to add a little blue to your bridal shower, why not use blue curacao in a few Blushing Brides? You could go crazy experimenting with different liqueurs to change up this drink’s color.

Although the Blushing Bride doesn’t call for a garnish, many bartenders keep a fresh flower on hand for a festive decoration. You could also add a few pomegranate seeds or even a frozen peach wedge to give your cocktails some Instagram glam.

Asian Pear Sparkler

Ingredients:
1 cup freshly pressed Asian pear juice (or regular pear juice)
1 teaspoon lemon juice
3/4 cups honey
1/4 cup sugar
1 (4-inch) sprig fresh rosemary
1 (1-inch) piece fresh ginger, peeled and cut into coins
Small grating of fresh nutmeg
Ice
Soda water

Combine pear juice, lemon juice, honey, sugar, rosemary, ginger, and nutmeg in a saucepan over medium heat. Bring to a boil, then simmer on low heat for five minutes, stirring to dissolve the sugars.

Remove from heat and let stand 30 minutes. Strain the syrup through a fine-mesh strainer and discard the solids. Let syrup cool completely.

To serve, fill an eight-ounce glass halfway with ice cubes, add three tablespoons of syrup, fill with soda water, and stir.

The Perfect After-Dinner Martini

With the dinner table becoming the main event at intimate gatherings, especially with restrictions on dancing, offer guests an elevated espresso martini experience. The Nomad Bar’s director Michael Smoley admits that the espresso martini is a “much-maligned cocktail from the age of sickly sweet club cocktails.” But, he said, it can be done right.

“It is transformed from guilty pleasure to a well-balanced and nuanced cocktail,” Smoley says. “It’s a great way to wake everyone up. Our recipe calls for a touch of aged Aquavit—think herbaceous vodka—and a pinch of salt to add depth of flavor. This recipe can easily be scaled up and batched days ahead of an event. Just keep it ice cold and give it a good shake when you’re ready to party."

NoMad Espresso Martini

  • 5 drops saline solution or small pinch of salt
  • 0.25 oz cane syrup or simple syrup
  • 0.50 oz aged Aquavit
  • 0.75 oz cold brew coffee
  • 0.75 oz vodka
  • 1.00 oz Mr. Black cold brew coffee liqueur

Combine all ingredients in a cocktail shaker. Add ice, cover, and shake vigorously. Strain into a coupe glass. To batch: Mix ingredients and keep cold until ready to serve. Give a solid shake before pouring into glasses.

Imagine you've forgotten once again the difference between a gorilla and a chimpanzee, so you do a quick Google image search of “gorilla." But instead of finding images of adorable animals, photos of a Black couple pop up.

Is this just a glitch in the algorithm? Or, is Google an ad company, not an information company, that's replicating the discrimination of the world it operates in? How can this discrimination be addressed and who is accountable for it?

“These platforms are encoded with racism," says UCLA professor and best-selling author of Algorithms of Oppression, Dr. Safiya Noble. “The logic is racist and sexist because it would allow for these kinds of false, misleading, kinds of results to come to the fore…There are unfortunately thousands of examples now of harm that comes from algorithmic discrimination."

On At Liberty this week, Dr. Noble joined us to discuss what she calls “algorithmic oppression," and what needs to be done to end this kind of bias and dismantle systemic racism in software, predictive analytics, search platforms, surveillance systems, and other technologies.
